blown valve

a friend of mine has a 99 s10 with a 2.2. i was thinking of buying it from him but it has a blown valve and the mechanic said that he needs a new engine. i was wondering if that is true that he needs a new engine, cuz i thought you could fix the engine if it is a blown valve.

Re: blown valve

just make sure that nothing else happened to the piston or head, then change the valves

Re: blown valve

if you are going to tear the engine down that far for one piston all of them should be done
