Carpet Color Change?

The carpet inside my car is black. I have heard that there is a product that can take out all the dye so that I can dye it a different color, does anyone know what I can use to do it?

Re: Carpet Color Change?

Most carpets are made of nylon which means that they can not be dyed or bleached. I've seen people attempt to dye carpets and it always looks like $#!+. This is because dying a carpet is essentially like painting a carpet. A new carpet kit will cost about $200-$300 (+ another $200 to have it professionally installed) depending on the make of your vehicle and the type of carpet you choose. Replacing your carpet is a much better way to go, but if you want to try it, most upholstery/trim shops will have access to these products.

you REALLY are better off designing around it (two toning/mats over the carpet) or if you really want a new color, buying new carpet. it is quite difficult to dye vehical carpeting and still have it look nice, black... almost impossible. i was seriously looking it to that when i wanted to dye my tan carpet black. the business who was going to do it professionally, strongly recommended against it.
