Unhappy Coolant fan won't work

Hello,
I am working on my friends car. Her coolant fan won't work.
I have done the following so far:
1. Hotwired the fan: it worked.
2. Pulled the relay and jumped the panel terminals: fan worked.
3. Tested relay: it works.

Now, at this point it looks like the temp switch. I disconnected the plug on the sender near where the upper rad hose goes into the block.
I thought if I jumped the terminals the fan should run. It did not!

Are there 2 temp senders? One for the gauge & ECM and one temperature switch for the fan? If so, where is the fan temperature switch?
Please help!!
Dave

Red face Re: Coolant fan won't work

I have had the same problem with my car, done all of the above. I even changed the Fan motor, because it was putting out too much voltage now and then, then it stopped all around. I ran toggle switch, burnt up three switches and NOw there is a problem with my fuse box where the relays are. I went to a junk yard to get a new fuse box, because the fan motor caused part of the fuse box to burn out. The fan relay, ABS relay, and Heater Blower relays are fine, but ABS lights on, heater or A/c dont come on. I jumped the terminals and they all work. SO there is some short in the box or wiring. I would recommend changing the fan motor first, to avoid these problems. Autozone has one for $30.99. There is only one sensor. Trust me, if you have done all that, then change the fan motor. Although it may come on when you jump the terminal, if it doesnt work when it is supposed to, the fan motor is going out. Has she had a check engine light on at any time. Mine came on when it started to go out. I have alot more problems now, trying to figure out if it was the fan, temp sensor, or relay. You have done everything but change the fan motor. Try that and see what happens.
