sunroof problem

I have a 1998 4runner and the sunroof won't open. When I push the switch all I hear is a clicking noise. How do I get access to the drive motor for the window. Thanks

Barry

moon/sun roof problem

hello,

my moonroof also jsut stopped working on my 1997 4 runner, it is a factory unit, the switch makes a clicking noise but nothing else happens....the relay also seems to click

I have the headliner and all else down and out of the way, I checked the moon roof track and there is nothing in the way, preventing it from slide

it is stuck in the open position, slid all the way back into the roof

I have the three bolts out of the motor but it doesnt seem like it wants to come out...is it spring loaded or something?

I also took off the tin cover on the motor, it was like two part with three screws, now there are two gears exposed, one with a c clip, the other looks like a pressed fit

I am pretty certain I have it ready to come out but it doesnt seem like it wants to come out

also what are those copper tubes?

any help is greatly appreciated, I am not sure even if it is the motor but have good reason to believe it is as I have tested the motor by running leads directly to it and it wont slide

thanks, please feel free to email me at work

Re: sunroof problem

Motor is not held by anything except the three bolts. May just be stuck by rust.

Are the copper tubes running around the front of the housing? If so, they are the casing pipes. Their function is unclear. They might be what lifts the wind deflector panel.
