2001 Chevy Lumina Air Pump?
Ok, here's the deal, today I was changing oil, and I had it draining, and I had a little time to just dink around under the hood. I noticed that there is a fuse panel located kinda near the coolant tank. on the passenger side of my car, and I was reading what fuses were in there, the norm, and I read one, air pump, what is an air pump exactally, and what does it do? Just wondering.

Re: 2001 Chevy Lumina Air Pump?
Air pumps were installed on some later model luminas to help reduce initial start-up emissions from the car. It works by pumping fresh air into the exhaust manifold, which reacts with everything else in that good old catalyctic converter. When the car warms up a bit, a solenoid closes the valve to prevent backflow from the exhaust to the pump.
