I just got back from work tonight. (HOME DEPOT) Well one of the guys thier saw my 3000GT SL and asked me if i wanted to race. So i said ok ( my first race). There is about a 1/8 mile strip in front of the store we raced on. O by the way he has a Eclispe GSX standard. And well he had me off the line and i could not catch up. It sucks!!!! And plus i think the manager saw us racing. SO lets hope i dont get fired.

I'd guess that you won't get canned. Sorry about the loss, you were walking into a tough race.

Ouch! your probbably running stock and he is probbably mad modded right? if so then thats not freaking fair. but I have a few mods and I've spanked alot of bone stock GSXs. which also is not fair! still nice run and as long as you didnt race on Home Depot property your manager cant do squat!

Stock vs. stock he would have lost. The turbo DSMs run right at a 15 flat in the 1/4 and an SL is said to run mid 16s based on a couple of sites I just checked out.

Edit: this is assuming competent drivers

Lando, I dont want to question your knowldge in any way, I know you know more but are you for sure SLs run mid 16s? cause my car stock ran a 15.8. and I know that many other SL s run mid 15s. again I am not questioning you, i just wish there was a deffinate relliable source to see true stock SL times!

My information was based on R&T numbers form a 91. You have a 94, so there may be differences (as I know there were in VR4s) that I am not aware of.

Even at a 15.8, a 15 flat car should walk away nicely (again, assuming equal driving skill)...that is all I'm saying.

Typically SLs are said to run mid 15s, there are a few members on this board that have run 14.9s, but that is not typical. Mid 16s does sound a bit high to me as well, just like 14.9 sounds extremely damn fast. But between them, mid 15s is usually the average that people go with. I don't know about the GSXs at all though, so that 1/2 second difference is still an obstacle to overcome.

I agree with Lando about the GSX winning over a SL if both stock. the 15.8 is not very respectable but I've invested alittle over 4 grand since then and that is why I can beat some stock GSXs (again, not trully fair) but I dont know what my time would be now since i havent been back to the track for a while.

He said he was stock but he was fast. I started to catch up with him but i couldnot. A had a 150 pound wieght reduction and a air intake.

stock for stock a gsx is little faster than a sl by probably .3 seconds. the awd is fairly easy to work with off the line so, nothing to be shocked or down about, our little brothers the dsm's are quick little sons of.........

15.8? stock sounds a little high. you got an automatic? SLs usually average out a 15.3. yeah and the gsx are a little faster than the 3000gts bases and SLs. man if we only had awd. also with a few minor mods it shouldnt be very hard for an SL to beat a GSX.
