93 Grand Am Engine Replacement
I have a 93 quad four dohc engine that I just rebuilt. I am wondering what year of cars that engine can go in. If the engine code on the
VIN is the same, does that mean the engines can be swapped ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks IllinoisPat |

Re: 93 Grand Am Engine Replacement
If the VIN codes are the same then that means you won't have to put more work into in than you have to and you can just swap the engine.
Quad 4 High Outputs (have a manual transmission) are VIN A (8th digit of the VIN is an A) Quad 4 Low Outputs (automatic transmission) are VIN D If you try to put a high output into a low output car you'll have to swap a manual transmission, but I'm not sure how the manual from a high output would do with a low output engine. |

Re: 93 Grand Am Engine Replacement
the 2.3 can be put in a Grand am or cutlass calais
the tranmission will bolt right up weather auto or 5spd. i have a 1991 ga with 2.3 ho w/ a 1997 5spd tranny out of a grand am and a 1989 grand am with 2.3 LO with a 1987 rebuilt automatic tranny from a calais. the only thing you really need to worry about is if the mounting brackets and motor mounts match up. wich they should.
