Opinions on Xexon Theft??
Hey fellows---my first post. I'm currently looking at 02 and 03 Maximas and was wondering anyones thoughts on how likely it is the Xenons would be lifted. I live in the city of Boston--but a very low crime neighborhood.
Do these brackets that Nissan can install help at all? Is it worth getting them?? Or should I have nothing to fear and just go ahead and get the car? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Hopefully I will be joining you all with a maxima very soon. |

THe headlights are pretty easy to steal. And I've heard of alot of peoples being stolen. I live in the boston AREA, and I've never had anything like this happen to me. There is something that Nissan makes that is a "lock" for your headlights, so they don't get stolen. I saw it at courtesy parts:

Re: Opinions on Xexon Theft??
mine haven't been stolen. i've seen a few driving around here with no headlights though. that bracket nissan installs just makes the thiefs cause more damage to the car. i've seen people with the anti theft thing still lose their lights.

Thats true. I guess if the person really wants your lights that bad (Cuz they're worth alot) They'll get them, antitheft device or not. Oaf, what part of boston do you live in?

The North End...There are at least half a dozen maximas parked on the street in the north end, and I have never seen any w/o headlights...not that I look all the time.... But your probably right, if they want them their going to take them...I know a guy who had his A4 messed up in an attempt to take those Xenons. |

Re: Opinions on Xexon Theft??
AS far As I know, HID thefts are going down. As people are becoming aware of stolen HID's being sold on EBay, there isn't as big of a demand. Plus, cops are catching on too now and using donated cars from Nissan as stingers.
If somebody wants your HID's, yes, they will take them. But same goes for your airbags. I wouldn't worry about it a whole lot. Just get the Datadots from Nissan and enjoy the 3.5

Re: Opinions on Xexon Theft??
Hello all! Im new here but have been a long time member over at maxima.org. Just recently a member with the "data dots" anti theft brackets had his headlight destroyed by someone trying to steal them. It ended up the theif got nothing but destroyed the lights, bumper and hood. Is it worth it? I guess the theif will advoid the hids with the data dot stickers from now on!
