Exclamation my Suzuki Swift wont start and my mechanic is stumped! can someone please help me!

I own a 1989 Suzuki Swift, and it wont start, the engine turns over but after that nothing happens, the other week when I was driving to work and it just stopped running out of the blue. I asked one of my friends who used to run his own garage and he looked at it and said it might be the EPI relay. So I bought a new one and it still wont start.

Sounds like you may have broken your timing belt. Take off the distributor cap and crank the engine to see if the rotor turns. If it doesn't turn, you broke your belt.

Do a compression check, and see if it's in spec. Does the engine seem to "spin-over" more quickly than it has in the past when you try to start it?? If so, it probably IS the timing belt. If compression checks out ok, I'd start looking into such things as the ignition module, pick-up coil, coil, etc..... the ignition components. Also...if your mechanic friend has a fuel-presure tester....have him help you with a fuel system pressure check. That should keep you busy for now

Hello i own a 1991 swift ,i just bought it used.it has the 1.3 mfi in it.I have checked the fireing order ,changed feul filter, cleaned and tested plugs , cap, rotor.I also have checked for feul to the feulrail but not the preasure(it seems to barely flow out).
No matter what i do the car starts ,sounds nice for about 30 seconds then it dies out. If i feather the throttle as iam starting it , it will run but only if i keep it @ around 3500rpms, if i let off it dies, the motor shows code 12 ,but the battery was dead when purchesed(replaced w/ new 1).
Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance!
