Question just wondering

My mom has 2001 ford explore and it only has around 40000 miles and she had to have her transmission rebuilt already and has had many other problems to. (check engine light, idle problems and more that I am not sure about) Are these explores junk, has anyone else had problems like this??????

I realize you posted this many months ago, but just in case you're still wondering, I'm having the same transmission issue at 65,000 miles. I need a new "valve body" which is about a $1,000 job. Total crap. I've taken fantastic care of this SUV, never towed a thing, freeway driving the majority of the time, and I get this. Don't buy another Ford!

Re: just wondering

you are all having good luck - your trannies made it out of warranty - a large number of them don't - - and as for junk "yup" lots of bad design flaws with these but all vehicles break sooner or later these just do it sooner and later
