stupid insurance

hey do you believe this, my girlfriends 97 spyder was a victim of the recent heavy rain which resulted in a 3 foot flood. she was driving and went right into the flood her car stalled....yada yada, anyways she went through insurance and they said they wont cover her because the car was lowered....it has been modified.....they say. i almost lost it,

what the hell i pay 230 a month and am not even covered either for my eclipse so if i get into a crash and hurt 20 people well all 20 people will go after me personally not my insurance.........this is stupid!!! i think i will just drive around without insurance....

thats shit do you guys know this??? i duuno if it is the same for you guys or not but for us up in Edmonton AB Canada it is.....its gay!!!

Re: stupid insurance

yea if you lower your car you need to go back to the insurance company and tell them so they can change your coverage. It sucks but true. she should have hurroed and reraised it b4 she claimed it.

Re: stupid insurance

Damn that sucks. My car is not lowered, but does that apply to modes to the engine? Or just lowering?

Re: stupid insurance

that sounds a little shady. i dont know why the insurance company would deny a claim becasue of the cosmetics of the car. especally if it haddent caused the problem for the claim. if the accident occured becasue of its current condition, i would sertanly understand their progative, but that is blatently disshonest. i wouldn't let that go! i'd get a copy of their claims report and read the articals that prevent the filed claim from being approved. now if they wont cover only the aftermarket parts, thats a diffrent story, i could understand that.

Re: stupid insurance

well the car was "lowerd" and she went into water and flooded it, the insurance is saying that if she hadnt lowerd it, that it may not have happend.

Re: stupid insurance

why are you mad at the insurance company?
was it not your girl that decided to drive through 3 feet of water?
insurance can only deny coverage if the modification was a direct cause of the damage. in this case, it's most definitely a possibility. but in 3 feet of water, lowered or not, it's gonna soak the car.

yeah well they didn't say that due to the fact that the car was lowered it was the cause that the car flooded. they said that decause a modification was made and the were not informed that is our fault and due to that they void our coverage! bull shit i think.....

it's stupid when you hand them their money they are your best friend but when you need the money they couldn't give two shits about you! and find anyway out of paying you....

yes the engine is seized because when it happened we called the insurance and filed a claim and we asked that if we pour oil or coolant in the cylinders would that be okay just so thw water wont rust it out.... they said no what ever damage is caused to the car they will cover.....now they aren't covering it....... fucking stupid!!!

they also said that what ever results from this claim that we are no longer going to be covered through them any more......i'm going to take my chances with the cops and no insurance....who knows maybe i will be on cops, one of those high speed chases....hehehe

Re: stupid insurance

no doubt she's a moron for driving into 3 feet of water. but thats what insurance is for. if their policy has flood insurance, and, or, it can be proven (oviously) that the hight on the car had nothing to do with the casue of damage in vapor lock, they have somthing. i've had personal experience with this kind of shit insurance companys do to get out of crap, they look for anything that they can to get out of things, thats why its so fucking hard to get $ out of them when you get hurt in a wreck. i really think they should contact legal representation to go over their insurance policy, and see if their just being fucks. thats just what i would do. its not right.
