Unhappy 00 Sierra Z71 transfer case troubles.

Hello everyone, I found this site two month ago and everyone seems so helpful and knowledgeable. I was hoping I could get some help.
I have a 00 sierra 4door short bed Z71 4x4 5.3L, Seems my transfer case (NVG 246) is not engaging the front drive shaft when in 4-hi, 4-lo, or auto-4wd.
The diff –shift motor will engage the front end but no power seems to be getting to the front diff.
When I shift to 4lo the transfer case will shift and I get low to the rear end only.
If any one has any info or suggestions I would be grateful for it.
Thanks Z-Man

Make sure the front transfer case actuator is working. It is the big electric motor sticking out of the front diff on the passenger side. It engages the front gears together to spin the CV-Joints.

Check your fuses, usually there is one for the transfer case and one for the front actuator(4WD?). You could check the connector for the front axle actuator for power. One wire should have 12v any time the key is on(brown?) and another should have power whenever a 4WD mode(4HI or 4LO) is selected(lt blue?)

Thanks NWChevyGuy and Jeremy-WI for the info, but I've done checked all that stuff and it all working.
I'm thanking it more in the t-case clutch pack since the rear end is
going into gear reduction when I'm in 4lo just no power to the front-diff.
thanks Z-man.

Re: 00 Sierra Z71 transfer case troubles.

There really is no CLUTCH pack in the T-case. It is a syncronizer very similliar to what is in a manual transmission. If you are sure everything else is working as it should? The only thing left to do is pull the T-case and check the shifting mechanism. The use some linkage and a small shift fork to achieve the combinations that are possible. I would point the finger at the shift fork.

With the vehicle in 4WD and the ignition on jack up one tire on the front end, can you turn it?
