Simple Green works pertty good. After you finish cleaning all the metal surfaces, spray tire shine over the engine, run it for a few min, open the hood back up and all the hoses and lines will look brand new.

Re: Tips And Tricks to cleaning!
Use any degreaser or engine cleaner & follow directions. Pressure washer is better than a normal hose since the PW uses 50% less water & the obvious PRESSURE. NEVER use tire shine under the hood because it could cause a fire, ruin sensors, etc. Your best off using WATER BASED interior dressing for under hood purposes, not that tire shine won't work it's just the wrong chemical mix to be used around heat & sensitive electronics.
I'm sure if you search this site you will come up with numerous engine cleaning how-to's. I know I've posted engine cleaning tips MANY times. There is a detailing section - http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...lay.php?f=1070 If you want the engine compartment to be as clean as possible then pro steam cleaning is the only way to go. |
