Hey All Cutlass owners and other AF members, Im new to this fourm so I thought Id just give you a bit of an infroduction on my 1984 olds cutlass supereme restoration project.
Its a long story on how I ended up with this cutlass, so I'll just say I got ripped off on a trade with a 1990 Buick roadmaster 5.8L 350sb, engine had a broken botton end, but everything else was fine. I traded the roadmaster for a 1984 Cutlass supereme and was soposed to get a 350 turbo tranny with a complete 350sb (4 bolt main) motor from a 1974 army truck (the body of the Cutlass needed/still does alot of work). it didn't happen..... the engine didn't even belong to him anymore

. so this is where I am now....
I have a block thats in perfect condition, (may need a light cylinder hone although cylinders look A1),that came from a 1992 buick Roadmaster (paied $200CDN for the motor, turned out most of the bottom end was shot, yet another rip-off, only difference was this one was a junkyard rip-off.). Then I got 2 old 350's (seized up from sitting outside) for free and a non-electric fuel pump also for free.
So I plan on swaping the crank, cam (with mech. fuel pump lobe), pistons (if i get them all out/unseized in one peice. I have 16 and I need 8 so its a 50/50 % chance), connecting rods etc, over to my newer 1992 buick 350sb block. Then I'm going to use the 4bbl center head with a regular Rodchecter 4bbl carb. Of corse I can't use all of the parts out of the old motor's I'll have to buy Piston rings, bearing kit (cam & crank), seal kit, gasket kit, oil pump, starter, and a disty (just the shaft and button, I have the cap).
I have the tranny as well, its automatic, only problem is its the stock tranny from the cutlass, which means it could only be the 7004R with conveter lock-up, correct??? it has no over drive, I hope it holds up to the 350...I feel that it will do OK.
Other than the bit of body work the car needs , its a nice car, it has all of the options you could get back then, and it has the glass T-tops (Which I just love!)
I need to know what colour to paint my block...does anyone know the colour of the stock 305sb from 1884 cutlass surpreme...I think it was "Chevy" blue correct??
any advice and/or sudjestions (i know my spelling) would be very nice.
later...for now.
