recommended lift kits

What would you guys suggest for a lift kit for a 3-4" lift on an '84?

if you're looking for a cheap lift, i went with a 3" rough country. it comes with shocks and ends up comiing to around $260 after shipping. it was easy to intall and has held up good.

3" for $260? What all came in that kit. I always thought that 3" or more you would need to either drop the T-case or do the slip-jiont eliminator w/ driveshaft. However, Mountiandew, I would recommend you go for the 4" if you can afford it. I will warn you, the kit will practically replace everything under your chassis. You will have to go to a slip-yoke eliminator w/ new driveshaft though. ($1000.00) The 3" lift you should be able to get away with running 31's. Makesure you replace ALL of your brake lines, stock are too short. Good luck

my lift came with front coils, rear add-a-leafs, shocks, and hardware to intall. i had no problems with the t-case until i put a big dent in my crossmember which pushed the t-case even higher up so i made a spacer out of 1" square stock to go in between my crossmember and my frame which solved that problem. it's not completely necessary, but i lengthened my sway bar connects by welding in a piece of metal the same diameter. you can buy longer ones, but they cost alot and you can get away with running stock ones, theres just a little more travel with longer ones. my stock rear leafsprings didn't have a lot of life left to them, so the add-a-leaf didn't quite bring up the rear a whole three inches so i put in a lift shackle that lifted the rear another inch. they're easy to install and only cost about $75. if your leaf springs are healthy, you probably won't need them. if you don't have a lot of $ like me, i'd recommend the rough country lift. it rides better on the road then mine did stock and it will clear 31's no problem.

A slip-yoke eliminator is not necessary on an '84. They all came with a 2 pc slip joint driveshaft (one of Jeep's better ideas, they cheaped out in later years when they went to a slip yoke.)

Mountindew : I've installed the Rubicon Express Extremeflex 4" on my last cherokee, ride is a bit on the rough side but the articulation is basically unmatched on the cherokee. Cant remember what I ended up paying for it... was about 3 years ago...
The other lift I've used in the past was Old Man Emu , ride quality is better than factory. articulation is excellent too.. but its only 2.5"

Currently I am looking into the Skyjacker 4" for my latest cherokee (yeah the 88. I've owned 2 x 87's and now an 88).
