Strange Front Brake Pad Wear
I've got a 1998 K1500 with 100K+ and noticed that the front brake bads are almost gone on the leading edge, but there's plenty left on the trailing edgewearing on the leading edge. I'm guessing it's time for new calipers. Any suggestions?
Thanks Patrick |

Re: Strange Front Brake Pad Wear
Most likely the caliper slide bushings are worn or binding, the second place to look is the contact points between the brake pads and steering knuckle or brake pads and caliper, rust will build up at these points and cause the pads to bind and wear unevenly,
too often people just "slap pads" and don't lubricate the slides or other contact points, sand the rust fron the contact areas and use a good quality silicone grease to lightly lubricate all contact points and caliper slides, if you replace the calipers the contact points still need to be lubricated FCFFUZZYFACE |
