All the after market MAF sensors that you spend $300.00 plus on none of them have screens in them. So what does that tell you?

Re: maf sensor????

I did it to the maf on my 99 silverado with the 5.3 however you have to be careful not to damage the elements inside of it. Some people had problems with their engines after removing it so it appears to be luck of the draw. There really isn't any improvement with the stock maf by removing the screen so your best bet is to leave well enough alone. If you're wanting a performance increase buying a superchips or comparable tuner is the single most cost effective upgrade you can do.

Re: maf sensor????

Yes I bought the superchips max tuner for my truck because it worked at all rpm ranges instead of only wot like hypertech. I've still got the tuner put up and it does work for 99-00 v8's if anyone might be interested. With the superchips tuning I had more power with the ac on than I did before with the ac off. It really woke the engine up and got rid of the off idle bog that many folks are experiencing with the quick cool ac system.
