CRX dx cylinder head swap

i have a 1990 CRX dx, so its got a D15A1 engine in it... my question is, are there any VTEC DOHC cylinder heads that will mount up properly. I know i will need new ECU, wiring harness, intake, etc... i am more curious to find out if the oil/coolant holes from my block will line up properly with a beefier head.

i am REALLY new to the honda scene and have no patience for the damn engine numbers.... if anyone knows what i could swap in there, tell me what car its from pls? then give me the numbers after :P

thanks in advance

Re: CRX dx cylinder head swap

you have a D15B2 in your CRX DX. the D15A1 came only in 84-87 CRX.

and to answer your question, no, there are no DOHC heads (VTEC or not) that will bolt up to a d series SOHC block.

You can, however, use any cylinder head from any 88-00 D series SOHC engine, including the VTEC heads, D16Z6 and D16Y8; although any will work.

the reason is simple. DOHC VTEC engines have a larger bore, so the cylinders are not located in the same place, plus the oil/coolant passages are located in different places as well as the head bolt locations. In a word..Impossible.
