Talon starts but then dies a few seconds later
Hey i have a 91 talon n/t and I just finished rebuilding the engine after it was fried by a friend due to over heating it several times! now i have the compression all back up and the car starts up and can be reved up for a few seconds but then dies right out. I have just thrown new plugs in it, and coolant temp sensor. I believe the ECU is throwing the code stating an open or short in the fuel system. now what could be causing that code to be tripped? is there anyway the relay or filter or pump could be shot and if so how can I check. Also where is the relay located and how do you bypass it. Another thing is, is when you do rev it up it spits a nice rich raw fuel smell out the exhaust. when you pull a plug they look dry but reak of gas.
I've also been reading about capacitors going in the ECU? could this possibly be part of the problem? if you have any at all ideas Id love to hear um cuz i have no clue where to go from here |

ok today I hot wired the fuel pump and the car now runs!! so therefore would that mean the fuel pump relay is toast? It's still runs really rich though. But someone told me the fuel pump relay also controls a bunch of the sesors so if thats gone would that make it also run wierd?

Re: Talon starts but then dies a few seconds later
Everything affects something in the clips. Sensors are a pain in the ... Usually, though if a sensor isn't working the check engine light will come on. And let me tell you, invest into those cool code reader things. They work great and can take multiple messages if there is more than one sensor that's bad.
