Alero Break Rubbing Noise

I have a 2001 and 2004 Alero both with four wheel antilock disk breaks on all four wheels. You can hear a rubbing noise when the breaks are applied (especially in reverse). The 2004 has under 200 miles and does the same thing. Dealer says normal. Any other thoughts?

I also noted that the rear disks on the 2001 are really rusty on the exposed disk pads. The front ones look rusty too. The 2001 has 37K miles and is currently not dirven a great deal (~100 miles a week). Is the rustin on the pads normal?

Re: Alero Break Rubbing Noise

The noise is normal to the best of my knowledge. My 02 does this. The noise is much more intrusive on 'N' body vehicles that have rear disk brakes.

Not sure if the rust is normal on the pads. I don't have that on my car, but I have seen many, many cars with rust on the rotors.
