Re: i just dont know

A lot of variables..
Stick always has the advantage against automatic.
Weight of the vehicle.
Allow wheels is lighter than steel wheels.
No spare tire is lighter than with a spare tire.
1/5 gas tank level is lighter than a full gas tank.
Lastly, it depends on the driver how they drive with a stick.

Re: i just dont know

power curves have much more to do with your 1/4 mile time than peak HP numbers. GM pushrod engine tend to have very flat torque curves, which makes them perform better than their HP/torque stats seem to indicate.

Re: i just dont know

yeah, you see, the thing is, you aren't giving your torque and horsepower ratings compared at different rpms to know how much (if any) advantage he has over the whole spectrum, also - you didn't mention which car weighs more, what kind of tires are on both cars, & what the final gear ratios are on both cars (not to mention, are the 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd shift ratios more advantageous on one car than the other) -- any one of these by itself could be the determininig factor in why your car is faster than his at the 1/4 mile. it's probably a combination of several factors, but i'd look at the obvious things like weight, gear ratios, etc first instead of only looking at rated hp/torque numbers.
