Re: Trailer wiring help needed please
The wires are color coded. The brown is the parking brakes and should match the brown wire from your van (the ones leading to the rear lights). Yellow and green should connect to left blinker and right blinker (should say on the wire). If you have a volt-meter or test light, turn on your blinker and check which wire is powering on and off. Do the same for the other turn signal. The white wire should ground to the van. You could probably connect from where your jack is. If not possible just connect from underneath the van where you can see the wires going to the lights.

There may be a very simple way to wire it up. On the S10, there is a connector on the driver's side of the truck just in front of the bumper. You can buy an insert that will be wired correctly (the assumption being that the trailer is wired correctly). You just pull apart the connector and insert the new plug between the two pieces. (they have them at Walmart). This plug contains the wires and flat connector to go back to your hitch and connect to the trailer flat connector. Since the S10 and Astro are from the same family, take a look - you should find the plug. Get some electrical grease and put some in the fittings to stop corrosion. Walmart has that too - about $2. Put some in the flat connectors too. |
