Poor Sound Quality

Crackling most likely because of poor quality external amplifier. Could also be poor head unit, but more likely the previous. I am curious which year and model of car you have as older BMW's have blaupunkt external amplifiers that cause poor sound quality. In addition, if you have messed with the system, remember that unshielded signal wires can cause excessive road noises. If you are having problems with the Harmon-Kardon sound (which I'm assuming), it would once again be a head unit/external amplifier problem as Harmon-Kardon makes extreamly good speakers (Don't Trash Them!). Unfortunately the only way to alleviate this problem is to replace the head unit/external amplifier with better ones. Tons of options out there, all depends on what your willing to spend to rid yourself of the interferrence.
