Pinging in 2004 Tahoe
I purchased a 2004 Tahoe about 3 months ago and have already experienced pinging noises coming from the exhaust system. GM admits it is a problem that they currently do not have a fix for, but their engineering dept is frantically working on a fix. The dealership in Byron, GA has replaced the muffler, which solved the problem for about 2 weeks, then the noises started again. GM claims that since it's not a life-threatening problem, they can't buy back the vehicle or refund my money, but they do admit it's not normal and it shouldn't make such noises. They can give me free oil changes if I want. The dealership has graciously offered to put on a "non-GM" muffler system or make me a great deal on a trade-in. I will be pursuing the lemon law on this one. I don't expect to pay $40,000 for a vehicle and feel like I'm in the middle of a drive-by shooting everytime I get out of the vehicle or stop at a red light. The dealership has admitted to having complaints from other Tahoe/Suburban owners. Has anyone reading this experienced this kind of problem or heard of anyone who has experienced this problem?
