Ive been thinking and id like to put a crx front on my 91 civic, Just wondering would it be a bolt on affair, if i got the crx fenders, hood, bumper, and lights? Oh ANd im not talking about getting the Jdm conversion either, just the regular usdm.

Re: 91 civic with a crx conevrsion?
IMO the CRX front end looks ALOT better than the civic front end. i absolutely hate 90-91 civic bumpers and im unfortunate enough to own a 91
![]() 88-89 civic is unique and looks good, but if you have a nasty 90-91, it could benefit from CRX parts :P |

Re: 91 civic with a crx conevrsion?
I have a crx front on my civic. its all bolt on but not every bolt lines up perfect, or maybe its because ive been in a fender bender before but crx fenders need crx sidemarkers and bumber. You could use civic headlights but wont line up perfect. You can use your civic hood. Also remember that crx fenders have the small plastic piece at the bottom-end next to the door. So you'd have to get the rest of the panel that runs on the door and rear quarter or shave it off and have to do some body work. not sure if the door and quarter section will line up. I just painted mine to match the car and its hardly noticable.

Re: 91 civic with a crx conevrsion?
nah, the jdm crx front end looks alot better than the jdm hatch front.......but either way....jdm=waste of money......why replace stock parts with MUCH more expensive stock parts? there is only a very small difference...but if you like VERY VERY subtle mods....i guess its right up your ally, please dont flame on me, just stating my humble opnion

if you get the following parts you can do it:
front bumper and steel bumper support front fenders corner lights fender-to-frame-to-headlight-to-bumber brackets your hood is the same as is your headlights the real advantage to this is basically just a cleaner looking front end, and if you are into aftermarket body pieces, a wider selection of corner lights and bodykit front bumpers. everyone with a hatch knows about that filler panel between the headlights/hood and the front bumper. its thin metal, and is very easily chipped and dented by rocks and road debris. well, on the CRX, that piece doesnt exist, because that area is filled by the bumper. that makes it a lot cleaner looking. second, the shape of the corner lights is different, and i think it looks better. ![]() good shot of the filler piece and the corner light on a hatch shot of my civic with a CRX conversion. notice the lack of filler piece, and CRX style corners if you have anymore questions, just ask me. i know all the little oddities associated with this swap

Re: 91 civic with a crx conevrsion?
between the hatch and the CRX, the hoods are the same, the headlights are the same. even the black brackets that hold the headlights to the frame are the same, as long as you stay within the 88-89 or 90-91 grouping.
the differences are: bumper and bumper support. the bumper of the CRX has the filler piece built into it as one smooth piece. the hatch has a seperate filler piece. the bumper supports look the same, but the CRX one has a thin bracket on the top of it to hold the top of the bumper. its not on the hatch support because the filler piece bolts to the frame seperately, so that bracket isnt needed. the fenders are different between the door and wheel well, because of the stock sideskirts on the CRX. the hatch doesnt have those, and the fender goes all the way to the bottom of the car. another difference is the way the fender fits up to the bumper. the CRX fender goes down a bit further where it meets the bumper, so if you try using a CRX bumper on civic fenders, you will get a gap between the two. the bracket that holds the fenders on by the bumper is different to reflect that difference in thickness. its that weird bracket that attaches to the headlight bracket, to the frame, to the fender, and to the bumper. ok, i ramble, to make a summary. YES the CRX and hatch hoods and headlights are identical.
