98 Elantra Check Engine Light
Saturday night my check engine light came on. Checked fluid levels, ok. Had to make a 3 hour drive with it on 2 days later, so the car has been driven about 4 hours with the check engine light on. Before the trip, I filled with gas (so I assume it's not the cap, b/c i screwed it on well that time). I've noticed no changes in the way the car drives/noise. Anyone have any ideas what else I could check? So far...alternator, gas cap, oxy sensors (and anything else that would make the car drive poorly) seem to be OK. Any suggestions outside of taking it to a shop?

Re: 98 Elantra Check Engine Light
Save your self some time and find someone who can read the fault code(s) on your ECU. If it's under warranty there should not be a charge at the dealer to do so.
