Unhappy Location/Engine Coolant Sensor/Passat 2000

Everyone says this is an easy repair.. BUT where is itunderstand that is is behind the engine (and 4 other sensors) after removing the cover but I still can not locate it..Is is one the same level plane as the other sensors or is is further down (toward the bottom) of the engine. One VW guy said I needed a long screwdriver, a mirror, and a flashlight. That sounds like it is hidden from view.
Please help

On the right side of the engine look for a four pin connector with wire colors blue/brown, brown, brown/grey and grey white.
