got the codes scaned and got cam sensor replaced, didn't fix the problem, then got crank sensor repaced did't fix it either. also somtims the traction off light comes on for no resone. brackets are quotes from the work orders, (code po342 cam se nser problem) they then (put a new cam sensor still ses light on, measure voltage @ cam connecter all good, possiable int condition between cam senser & pcm ne- ed) 3rd time (check for ses light on, found history code of 0341 cam/crank error, replace crank senser no codes returned) but bye the time i went to pick up my car the codes were returned. Thanks for the help. |

Re: check engine light wont go away!
I guess that's why a having scan tool does not make a mechanic...
If the sensors are presumed good, logic would dictate that either you've a problem elsewhere in the circuit- bad PCM possibly? -or- Timing chain/belt problem making things not be where they should be? I don't know if the 3800 in your Riviera has a chain or belt or what. I had an older Bonneville that had the timing (chain I think) jump a tooth or two and just had weird things going on until it got cold out and I figured out wtf was going on. I will check my repair manuals tomorrow and see in I can shed any more light on things. Likely it'll say replace the cam position sensors though... |
