Silver vortec 350 water pumps

Whats up with the new vortecs!!
my mech said it is common to put a water pump in a vortec 350 every 65,000 miles.
Why ??????
is it due to the (Orange anti freeze or what???)

I have a 78 with a LT-1 350 and it has the same pump that it came with when i got it back in 1981.

And it is working fine!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,and i drive it all the time!

Get rid of the orange death cool !!! I have been told it is very hard on water pumps. I have a 98 5.7 and at 95k I replaced the intake gasket and the water pump while I was at it and the old pump still looked like new inside when I took it apart so I don't know if it is true. I do know the deathcool is hard on the radiator and heater core though. I put the green in when I did the intake gasket and I am almost up to 180k so that is 95k on the first pump and it was still good and 85k on the second and it is still good.
