Manual Transmission Stiff SHifting Problem, 1999 Honda Civic HX
A few times this summer I have driven my car and experienced difficulty in shifting. Normally the car shifts very smoothly, but on a few occasions the shift lever has been extremely stiff when shifting between gears (but not so when "jiggling" it back and forth in neutral). Anybody know why this is, and if it the beginning of a serious tranny problem?
Thanks, Drew |

I know sometimes manual hondas need to get the bushing on the linkage oiled/greased. It's under the car, right below the shifter. If it's ever been kinda hard to get in reverse (happened to me on 2 cars, didn't know why then) that bushing is dry.

Always "difficult" to get into reverse, basically since day 1. Usually have to depress cluth, shift into reverse, back to neutral, release clutch, then depress and put back into neutral. Thanks for the note!
