the window motor is shot. all you can do is buy a new window motor. if you keep using it it will eventually just get perminently stuck. it happened to me in my '94 Z28 and my buddies '97. GM wanted $300 to fix it

Agreed.. Window motor is on its way out..

A tip if your changin it yourself, inspect all your tracks and wheels.. Make sure theyre operating properly, and clean and re-grease them..

i just replaced both of mine, they were doing the same thing each motor is about 40 bucks. its slightly difficult on a third gen, don't know about 4th gens. but i recommend you replace it before it just stops moving, which it will eventually do.

I just did it on my 94, and it was a real pain in the butt. However, the dealer quoted me at like $350 so it was way worth it to do it myself.

Re: windows have a mind of their own

its really easy to do yourself, because it happened on my 95', when you take off the side panels then you just unbolt the motor... then you can take the motor out after you take out the speakers so you can pull it out from that hole, and put it in through the same hole...

Re: windows have a mind of their own

what do you mean by side panels. like the interior panels or the door panels on the outside?

Re: windows have a mind of their own

the abs inop light cant just be turned off, it means your abs isnt working, and it needs to be fixed. the light wont go out till you fix it. if you have fixed it, then you need a tech 2 scanner to clear the codes. or unhook the battery for 30 seconds, that should do it too.
