An SR20 isn't going to sound like a ferrari engine by any strech of the imagination. Maybe you can score an italian engine that might sound a little more ferrari. See if you can get an Alfa engine in there, if nothing else, those things sound REALLY good.

Re: SR20DET w/ T78 turbo kit

How the hell are you going to swap an SR20 into a Ferrari, is this a prank???????????????
Secondly what kind of ferrari?????????????
Thirdly, why not get a BMW 750 or 850 V12 engine, they are powerful, my brother has one, at one point I thought how about getting another S14 and swapping that V12 in. It is the same V12 as the one in the Mclaren except, the F1 is tweaked to very high standards. You can buy the V12 for around 5-8Gs or go to ebay and buy you a Whole 750 for a little over 3Gs and you will have all the parts you will need, and it will not be a step down from a Ferrari V12 to a Nissan I-4. going from a Ferrari V12 to a BMW V12 is not bad, considering that BMW uses the same engine in their formula cars, well except for the fact that the formulas put out 750hp and rev to 14000RPM.

he said ferrari kit

anyway, you think the sr20 will sound like a ferrari?

basically...ANSA (exhuast system) has been the OE supplier to ferrari for 40 years...ur not gonna find an engine that sounds like it....the exhuast part of the car is making the noise.

SHO411, how could u swap in a v12 into a s14, wtf are u talking about? No amount of money can do that.

why not?

I've seen vg30dett's and VQ35's in 240sx.. that takes care of the width dimension

I've also seen straight 6 engines in 240's..that takes care of the length problem

what u smoking dude why wouldn't it fit?

It's called battery relocating kit and you put it in your trunk.

Re: SR20DET w/ T78 turbo kit

Listen, I had taken measurements of the V12, cuz at one point he wanted to sale the car, it is not much bigger than my SHO block, and my SHO block fits in the S14 very well, actually when I put them it side by side to my T-ram 5.7, they were almost the same size. The only thing I came to see is that there will be no more room for Turbos, also the BMW V12 is a little taller than the SHO. And what are you guys talking about batteries for????? I have tons of space in my 240 with the SHO block, but I am still moving the battery to the trunk. Actually the only challenge I have with my SHO engine is, I want it sitting far back and low as posible to boost handling, other wise I wouldn't be going through half the problems I am. I think a 750SX would be cool , that V12 could run like hell, and the car already weighed like 5000lbs, and had the largest altenator I have ever seen in my life. The alternator even had a cooling hose running into it.
Oh and another thing that pissed me off was BMW never made a manual 750, only automatics, which I hate with a passion. and the tranny is massive, so will have to use a smaller one.
And what is a Stradale anyway?????

I think we are going to get a BMW V12 anyways because you can actually get them for about $12,000, but i am still wondering how much horsepower you would get out of the SR20DET with a T78 turbo.(My best friend has a S14 and wants to know if he should spend the 4500 bucks for the T78)
No, they sound totaly different, there would be no confusing the two. As for how much power you'll get from it, you can get over 500 or 600 if you don't mind blowing the engine up every couple of weeks.. or days..

Any way if you are going for sound, a V8 with an apropriate exaust will sound a lot closer than an Inline 4 cyl. turbo.

1967 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale

I'm told that less than 20 were ever built.

Oh and it's a 2.0 liter V8, not a 12 =(
230hp 140lb torque
Curb weight: 1261 pounds
0-60 5.5seconds

Not too bad for an almost 40 year old car.
