1998 WindedStar - Headlights

Hope someone can help.
problem
Replaced my headlights thinking that was the problem. Not So..

I have DRL, they work as I start the van. I flick the switch to the first position, my amber lights come on and dash lights up.

When I flick to the headlight position, they do not light up. When I flick my high beams on they also do not come on. But if I pull the high beam switch towards me for temp High Beam they work.

I have checked related relay. 60A fuse, and all related fuses in the cabin.

Aside from tracing wires? what can I do to find this problem?

I'm bound to be pulled over for only having my DRL's on.

Your problem may be the High/Low selector switch itself.I had the same problem in a 1993 Olds.88 I used to have.I only had my brights and it sure made other drivers mad.

Since the switch that takes the lights from DRL to Headlight have different contacts for each position, it could be as simple as the switch itself. Never had to take one off, but if you do, it may just require the switch to be cleaned or replaced. As to the temp high beam, I think that by pulling it back, it actually is wired to by-pass the actual light switch. Might be a good idea to get a wiring diagram.

Techhead, did you resolve your headlight problem? We are experiencing the exact problem you described, with our daughter/son-in-laws Windstar. If you found the problem and could let us know what was found, it would be appreciated. Thanks......knicka
