98 Cavalier pulling left

Hi there,

I have a 98 Cavailer Z24 (5 speed) and recently it's pulling left and when turning left (around sharp bends) there is a banging noise coming from the front (uner the hood). I recently had the struts replaced and the back breaks machined and the drums replaced. I declined the allignment since my dealer suggested that the replacing the struts should automatically correct that problem.

I'm a girl - so you'll have to excuse the simple language.

Does anyone have a suggestion of what this could be?

Also, I'm having a bit of stiffness when shifting from 1st to 2nd or downshifting from 2nd to 1st....anything there?

Did you check to see if the front sway bar was broken? Have a Pontiac Grand Prix and everytime the car turned left we heard a bang. Turned out to be a broken sway bar. This may also account for the car pulling to the left.

Re: Re: 98 Cavalier pulling left

Thanks for the reply. My dealer suggested that maybe the tires are worn - suggested to switch the front two . Now it's pulling to the right, but just by a hair, ever so slightly.

As for the banging sound in the front, they thought it was the upper strut mounts - need to be replaced.

I had them check the lower control arm bushings and he said there was no problem there, so that's not what's causing the banging noise.
