engine temperature

I have a 200 Grand Am GT and was wondering how hot he engine is supposed to be running? My gauge is usually around 200 when warmed up.

Re: engine temperature

not sure but sounds right for a F/I engine. I have a 93 3.4 grand prix and it runs right at 220, which is fine.

Re: engine temperature

Since the boiling temperature of water at sea level is 212 degrees 200 is actually very good. The pressure cap of your radiator increases the boiling point well beyond that probably to around 265 degrees. With a 195 thermostat this temperature is more than acceptable.

I've got a 2001, and mine usually sits at 200 or one mark under or over.
