JWT Pop Charger Install Question #2

After reading B-Boogie's install page regarding the JWT Pop Charger, I noticed that my POP does not have the little nipple to plug the vaccum hose or air sensor into. Then again, after looking at my airbox, I don't even see a hose or sensor connected to the part that's going to be replaced by the POP Charger. Should I not worry about it, or do you think I got the wrong part from JWT? By the way, I've got a '99 P11.

the sensor is located in the pipe that goes from the air box to the fender. im not sure about that other tube that you were talking about. since you dont have a hole for the sensor, you can either leave the original pipe in place and leave the sensor in there, or connect it to the outside of pop charger.

Your 99 maybe a little different. If you dont see a vacuum host on the airbox, dont worry about it... I guess

BTW the infamous sensor is on the pipe right next to your battery.

b-b00gie.....what did you do with your sensor after installing the jwt? how did you connect it?
Do you have any clue is the Stillen pop charger for 2000 have a hole for the sensor, or do u have to custom attach it somehow?

I'm not sure if it comes with the hole. You dont have to stick it in the filter; just near it. All that sensor does is measure the temp of the air being sucked in.

So where did you put your sensor?

This temp. sensor must send the temp. of the intake air to the ECU. I wonder how the ECU uses this information. Could it be that the temperature of the intake air has an effect within the intake manifold(as in changing how much air is pumped into the cylinders or how much fuel is shot into the cylinders by the injectors)?

Hm...I'm gonna have to bust out the Physics book on this one. I'll let everyone know if I come up with anything.

In the meantime, anyone know if the intake air temp. as measured by the sensor actually is actually considered by the ECU's intake programming?

It is used by the ECU for something... cut it off and you'll get that nasty light on your dash!

G20Rob3 the sensor you are talking about is the "boost sensor" I have no idea why they call it that or what it do's but the 99 do's not have one so no need to worry about it.
Kheeter, temperature effects the density of air (the colder the temp the denser the air) the ECU uses the temp readings together with the MAF readings to figure out how much fuel it needs to add to the mix. In other words if the temp sensor is reading 30deg the ECU will put more fuel in then if it where reading 80deg. I hope that helps.
