Unhappy serious engine torubles need oppinions

This is gonna be a bit long sorry,
Up until recently i was convinced that i would sell my 4g sedan to a wrecker for $AUD600 and get a Falcon!!! Well as it turns out i cant part with the civic.

Anyway so i took it into where my mum bought it 14 years ago this morning to get some work done. Major service, timing belt, all drive belts, air filter, boot seal (exhaust fumes really turn the chcicks on) and get the Carbies overhauled so this is 1500 thats cool. As it turns out they need to do a compression check and it needs a new water pump and bout 2500 worth of other parts ie sump gasket, brakes, trailing arms & other little thiungs etc so providing the compression is all good i get the carbies done.

its a D15B completley stock so should i get it all fixed up or should i look at gettin another motor, i know that the D15 isnt a performance motor i was gunna do a few little things but being that im on my P's still i dont want to do much in the engine department blah blah blah

I think you get the point oppinions would be appreciated thanks

you should find out how much it will cost to fix compared to a better engine. if the cost is close just get the better engine. good luck with all this

The price for an engine (a nice one) is about as much as your repairs - 2000-2500, some with a core charge, etc. If you can put it in yourself that'd be great, but if you get another mechanic to put it in might be a lil costly. You might be able to rebuild your current engine for the same sorta price

Re: serious engine torubles need oppinions

yea looks like your spending a grip of money to fix an engine that is more easily replaced then fixed. make sure you do all that work, change the water pump, gaskets, compression, ect to the new engine before you put it in so you have a strong engine with no problems.

Re: serious engine torubles need oppinions

or you could just change the drum shoes, i very much doubt the drum is scored unless you have been driving it on the metal which aint clever, and the shoes arent expensive anyway, you dont need to uprate to discs on an engine like that mate its not needed at this stage in modding IMO
