Panel Removal.

I recently bought a used 2002 Ford explorer XLT.Anyways, the dealer forgot to give me the factory keyless entry code for the door panel. So I called him up.He then told me that he didnt know it .So I went on an online search and found out that you can find the factory code within the panel on the right side of the 2nd row seat.I have located the module but my only problem is removing the panel in order to get access to it.Ive poked and prodded all around there but I cant see any visible screws or latches. Can anyone help me out here?

Re: Panel Removal.

Had the same problem with my used 2002 Explorer. I had to remove the foam door weather strip for the right rear door (only the aft portion) and the seat belt anchor bolt (use proper size Torx bit). Then you can manuver the right rear quarter trim panel upper portion (where shoulder strap goes through the trim) to release the clips. Then maneuver the lower portion to release those clips. You do NOT need to remove it entirely, but you should then be able to read the codes on the "centeral security module". Take your time and don't force anything.

Re: Panel Removal.

jpweav....thanks a million, bought a 02 explorer used, and was so sad to find i couldn't use the keyless entry. (i have perfected locking my keys in ya know!)
your instructions were perfect, and i had the code in 10 minutes!
best advice, is to fold the seat down and sit on the flattened back part, and then GENTLY pull the lower portion of the molding away (the part below where the seatbelt enters). in ther you will find a black box, and on the right hand side of it, in black will be your 5 digit code! i didn't even have to losen the seatbelt anchor bolt! THANKS A TON!!!
