New pictures of the Lloyds liveried F1 GTR:

I guess I failed to mention that they're of a 1/43rd scale diecast. Sorry to anyone who got their hopes up.

Shots of this car are extremely rare so stuff like this is cool to see. It would be great if the Autobarn guys would share their reference material used to create this model, but I tried asking for it before on the all white Gulf GTR and got no where.

If anyone is interested in the auction btw - here's a link:

The only real photo I have ever seen of the short tailed Davidoff car is on Pg. 217 of "Driving Ambition". Its the photo in the middle of the page at the very bottom and you can only see the car head-on from the front. It's also a very tiny photo unfortunately.

One question though - what would the benefit be of having them make one since Minichamps already produced one? It seems that all the GTRs they've made to date have been ones that Minichamps neglected to make. Would there be any licensing conflicts if they were to reproduce a car that Minichamps built?

If it was me making the request, I would ask them to produce the "MVR" short tail that raced in two races in 1997 before the team replaced it with an Elise GT1. So far, the only 1/43rd scale I have seen of that was a converted Minichamps that someone had customized and the quality didn't look all that spectacular to me.

I know, I searched the net to find some pics but nothing. It's strange

Well as you know, the minichamps is very rare and hard to become. Prices are around 350US$ for the moment. It would be great for some collectors to buy it for around 250US$ (And it will be handbuild)

If possible, please send me pictures of the car, I will email them directly to autobarn (kelli or ari) and we will see what the future brings

like P said, what would be the point? the lm and ueno are already made by minichamps.

I would argue that the LM is not made by Minichamps. They really dropped the ball in their attempt to offer an LM by labeling it as the GTR Prototype which it clearly isn't. It doesn't make any sense at all to me...

Here's the only photos in existence of the MVR GTR:

See if you can get their reference material for the Lloyds car - that would be really awesome!! As for reference material on the short tailed Davidoff, why not just take lots of photos of the Minichamps version. One would think that it would be as accurate as possible.

I stand corrected by the way - there is another 'real' photo of the short tailed Davidoff car. This one was taken at the Monza race in 1995. I don't recall if I knew before that the car wore this livery at that race. I knew that it had worn it at the 1995 Zuhai race which is where that photo from "Driving Ambition" was apparently taken. It's not the greatest photo, but anything is better than nothing:

The book F1 McLaren GTR shows the Davidoff Short Tail in the following:

- pg 113: Doing donuts at Monza (3 photos) 1 side view, 2 small 3/4 views

- pg 141: closeup of the front fender - not enough to get details

- pg 144: low angle high contrast 3/4 front shot from Suzuka. Cannot make out details for decals.. sun is at the rear

- pg 164: Rear 3/4 shot at Zhuhai

- pg 166: b&w side shot at Zhuhai

There is supposed to be a book release in the next 3-4 weeks covering the Endurance GT racing in 3 volumes. There might be more photos of McLarens in those issues.

Is that the Michael Cotton book with the West liveried GTR on the cover? I assume it is - I'd really like to get my hands on that as well as on a copy of a few others that look similar. I've only seen the Cotton books on Ebay once and unfortunately I was not the big winner of them.

Keep me posted on this new series of books you are referring to. It's always easier (and cheaper) to pick them up when they are new.

Yes, it was the Michael Cotton book. Peleton, you really really need to get a copy of it. For right now it is the ultimate book for 95 GTR fans. It makes a nice addition to Driving Ambition. More or less continuing in the GTR vein where Driving Ambition gives the reader an appetizer of McLaren's racing direction.

Just recently went to ALMS race and was able to complete my collection of Le Mans 24 Hours books from 95-98. Nice photos of McLarens plus other great cars.

Wondering if someone has the 1995 GT Endurance book. This book should have the shots of all the McLaren liveries. (If the book even exists). The 96 and 97 GT Endurance books have great shots of McLarens as well, but those won't help you with the Davidoff Short Tail.

Not sure if there was a book or program from the British GT series of that time. But I believe these would give you more info/pics on the liveries as well.

I believe I have an image of the cover of the 1995 GT Endurance book. I'll check for you later.

EDIT: I actually found one on the web, but the place hosting it doesn't offer it for sale anymore.

If anyone knows of a good source for any of these books please let me know as I would love to add them to my library.
