1997 explorer door lock problem

The driver side passenger door lock is jammed and door will not open. The door lock pin seems to go only half way up when using the power door lock to unlock. When manually pulling on the door pin, it does not go up any further to the full unlock position. Opened up the inside door panel to get at locking mechanism but it is not accessible. Can't think of anything else to do except somehow remove the door itself. Would appreciate any help and suggestions. thanks
