Nissan S13 SR20DET vs 2nd Gen Eclipse GS-T

TerminalVelocity came down to visit his parents for the holiday, so of course I had to stop by and hang... which lead to us looking for races in his 240sx powered by a pretty stock SR20DET.

His mods are as follows:
SR20DET Red top
APEX-I N1 3in exaust
PWR Alum. Radiator
Blitz 3in downpipe
Greddy Turbo Timer
HKS Manual boost controller
Walbro 255 Liter Per Hour High Pressure Fuel Pump
A-Spec Air Cleaner
Sheepdog Blowoff Valve
Nismo FPR
LSD w/4.40 gears

So we're out cruising allll overrr can't find a good run to save our lives. We're headed back to my place to drop me off (nearly 1am) and sitting at a light we see a clean white Eclipse going the other way.

Me: Oooo, go for it...
TV: Eh...
Me: C'mon...
TV: ok... doesn't take much to convince me.
Me: I know, you're a whore.
TV: yes... a dirty one.

So we make the right hand turn to follow the Eclipse from the left lane of the street, pretty illegal but what we had in plan was far more illegal.

Rally through the gears a bit to catch up, slow for a second... then punch it past the guy letting him hear the BOV. With in seconds he's pulling out behind a slower car and behind us

Us: oooooo
Me: that got his attention.
TV: yep...

We go over this dip in the road at an intersection pretty fast since TV's car isn't lowered. I guess the Eclipse driver wasn't paying attention or forgot the dip was there and he hit the dip pretty hard.

Us: OOOOOOoooooo fuck that look like it hurt!
Us: hahahahhaha

He stays behind us for about a block, probably sizing us up. Staring at the big Apexi muffler hanging out back fed by a full 3" exhaust. I think it's 3"... looks big enough. Could be wrong.

Finally, he starts to pull up next to us. TV downshifts the guy hesitates then we're off... put about 1.5 lengths on him. We slow a bit, he catches up. We get stopped at a red light...

TV: hmmm should I?
Me: I dunno, I didn't get a look at any badges.. might be GSX.
TV: I guess we'll find out.

TV revs up a bit in anticipation, light goes green. The Eclipse just takes off normally while we chirp tires.

Me: Must be a GS-T... I totally expected him to pwn you.
TV: Seriously.

After we've been rolling for a bit he comes up to us again and we repeat it again but put about 2 lengths on him by 4th gear. Both runs were started in 2nd gear from approximately 30mph.

We get seperated by a traffic light, and a few miles down the road he catches up. We get stuck at another red light in traffic... and he pulls up next to us.

Eclipse driver: What turbo do you have?
TV: T25
Eclipse driver: ...... how much boost?
TV: 15lbs
Me: GS-T or GSX?
Eclipse driver: GS-T...
TV: How much boost you running?
Eclipse driver: just a bar. (14.8lbs)
TV: Cool man.
Me: Nice car.
Eclipse driver: Thanks, where you guys going?
Me: Just cruising.
Eclipse driver: You want to take them on the freeway?
TV: Eh, nah I gotta get back...
At this point, we were low on gas. TV and I had been rallying around for a few hours now
Eclipse driver: Ahh alright.

We take off at the light normally, a few blocks down we turn off and we give the GS-T a thumbs up and he returns it.

We came to the conclusion if we took him from a roll that bad on the street it'd be the same results had it been on the freeway.

Things we could see on the GS-T were a FMIC, exhaust, bov and upped boost.

Good runs!

Oh on last thing, after getting to my house. Standing outside loading his car up with his crap he left in mine. What looked like a early 70s Camaro or Firebird with a lumpy cam and flowmasters went by.

TV: I gotta go!
Me: Seriously... lemme know how it goes.
TV: Yaya...

5 minutes later I get a call.

TV: HA, pulled him like laughy taffy.
Me: Sweet...
TV: Sad thing is they filmed it.

Very nice kills. Gotta love the sr20. *glances around to see if Tat heard that*
Too bad that guy in the eclipse spent his money on an FMIC instead of a bigger turbo...

The guy looked kinda dissappointed to find out we were running the same T25 as him. And the basically same boost as him.

TV doesn't even have a FMIC, just has a stock sidemount.

TV's doing good, he just hasn't been able to get online as much. He moved out into an apartment with his fiance. So money is tight for him and he can't get a internet hook-up as of yet.

Although, he said he's been going to Cyber-cafe's lately pwning the 12 year olds at games like Counter Strike. So he might pop on from time to time to say things like... OmIkRoN!

nice kill for T.V. well it would be very obvious why the eclipse lost. its becasue its around 300 lbs heavier then tv's S13. also the SR engine just loves the rev. the eclipse's 4g63 doesn't seem to want to rev all that much.

Re: Nissan S13 SR20DET vs 2nd Gen Eclipse GS-T

you have the cox the little 4g63 out of its shy state to rev this can be achieved with mating it to a very attractive 16g/20g hehe..
