Laguna Seca Battle

Who'd win around Laguna Seca...since alot of us know the course and it's turns from GT2/GT3...?

Sidenote: Slicks permitted...but NO MODIFICATIONS to suspension, drivetrain, or engine...minus the tires...compare them BONE STOCK!

Noble without a doubt. It is the most pure track car on that list. It outperfoms the regular modena easilly and even the stradale would have trouble with it.

PS. I presume you are talking about the newest model of Noble the M12 GTO-3R

It's all about the Noble on this one.

The lap time ranking would go as follows.

1: Noble M12 GTO - purist mid-engine race chassis with hot blooded American V8 power.

2: Ferrari 360 Modena - not quite the grunt or grip of the Noble, but an agile little beast that floats from corner to corner.

3: 911 Turbo - AWD and a bunch of electronic whizbang crap sure looks good on the autobahn, but only the Porsche's grunt and natural agility saves it from being embarassed by cars costing 50K + and less.

4: Vette Z06 - Top notch chassis and gutsy engine are let down by hard compound run flats that have too little stick and too small of a contact patch. Still, it's within a few tenths of the 100K+ club that holds the top three spots.

5: Lamborghini Gallardo - as with every Lambo, this car remains clumsy and awkward in successive corners. A ton of power from that boisterous V10 gets it going, and huge brakes gets it stopping, but start throwing her through the corners and this bull turns into a cow.

6: Lotus Elise 190 - With the hot Toyota engine, it's featherweight body, and radically grippy chassis, the Elise eats up tight corners like Turn 11 and the Andretti Hairpin in ways that the bigger supercars only dream of, but we're still talking only 180hp so those straightaways and the uphill climb to the Corkscrew leave the Elise wishing it were an Exige.

7th (tie): Subaru WRX STi and Lancer Evolution VIII - This pair is so close it comes down to semantics to separate them. However, it takes little effort to realize that Seca is an oversteer/agility course and neither of these cars in USDM trim fights their natural understeer well enough to hang with MR and FR sports cars. It takes a lot of reliance on the AWD systems to get the cars to pull out of the corners instead of powering through them, and with only 280 and 300hp respectively, bringing these tuner sedans to a supercar showdown is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Only the Elise has less, and it weighs somewhere near 2/3rds of what the pair weighs.

I firmly believe that these would be the results you'd see.

I agree with your list. But I think you just mixed up the Noble with the Mosler.

You're right, Noble uses a turbo Ford Duratec engine.

Ah well, I take comfort in the fact that I know a Mosler MT900 Photon would wax the floor with the whole lot of those cars.

and the noble is quite a bit cheaper than the mosler. You can get it here at less than 80K USD.

And I fully agree, the mosler would dominate. Heck its basically a pure le mans race car that somehow they managed to get to pass inspections.

Re: Laguna Seca Battle

The Noble will simply walk the rest of them with no real problem. The car is all about track bred performance.

The cars will follow in this order
2. 360 CS
3. 911 Turbo
4. Z06
5. Gallardo
6. Elise
7. WRX
8. Evo

Oh wait, that's the same as Layla's list

Yes but to skip the retarted legalisation process, they are selling it as kit car. So you buy the car and the engine separatelly. Not really a problem since any decent shop can drop the engine in for you.

The total cost, I believe, its somewhere below 80K USD

Re: Laguna Seca Battle

hmm, in kit car form...
so does that mean you can get an old style body (which i think looks better) and buy one of the newer engines?
y'know, mix and match style?
or is it just 'kit' in name?

Its a kit just in name. When all is said and done you are still getting the latest version.

However if you can get your hand on an old body style and the new turbo duratec fits in, you might still be able to mix and match.
