Short Throw...With or without bend?

So I was looking into getting a short throw sometime soon and I've noticed that some have a S bend and some are just straight. Whats up with the bend? I've noticed that some companies, like B&M have both kinds.

So are there any advantages to the bend? If its just for looks, I'm kinda partial to the straight kind.

Re: Short Throw...With or without bend?

I think the ones with the bends actually sit a lil bit closer to the driver...don't take my word though. Mine kind of has the 's' bend it in, and nothing has gone wrong with it in over a year.

Re: Short Throw...With or without bend?

Just makes it sit a little closer to the driver like said above, so you dont have to reach as far to shift, for the lazy scumbags!

Re: Short Throw...With or without bend?

I didn't wanna have to lean forward just to grab my shifter in 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear.

Re: Short Throw...With or without bend?

Go with the Hurst from FourthGenHatch. If you don't like his color, Hurst offers 5 total colors for $49.95 brand new from www.jcwsportcompact.com A very good suggestion is shifter stabbilizer bushings for $10.00 from the same website. Stay away from the "adjustable" short throws because they break. It's not the shifter length, it's the space between the pivot point & linkage mounting point that makes it a short throw. You always have that one person "I cut my shifter down so now it's a short throw" yea right . . . .

Is that your own personal scanner in the background Jackasssi? And also, what the hell were you doing with it in your car? Did you convert to OBD-1 or something?

Yes that's my scanner & no it's not OBDI or II. Just happened to be in the car while photos were taken.

yeah they're not cheap, my dad's got the second gen snap-on like that one except i think the screen has like one more line or something and he gave a couple thousand for it even after he traded in his old one. Of Course then the updated cartridges for it are 1000 a piece too
