Question 98 Neon-panel guages go to off then come on again

Anyone know why the guages on my neon suddenly turn off and then come back on. It happens when I am driving but if I tap the dashboard the power returns and the guages come back on again. Tens to happen during very hot humid weather. Computer module??

If it is the main gauge cluster,ie speed, gas, etc just replace it. It pulls out once screws are removed. You can find one at all most any junk yard

Don't buy a new guage cluster! Go to an auto parts store, and buy yourself some battery terminal grease. Then pull the large top portion of your dash off. It is attached with just some clips. You will then see a couple of screws holding the guages in place. Remove these and put the grease on the metal terminals that supply power to your guages. Make sure that you screw it back in tight. You should be in business. I had the same problem on my 98 r/t.

Thanks for the idea. I will definately try it, soon! The other day I was on an interstate and as an "officer" was following me the guages went out!! No speedo and a cop on my tail. The sweat ran free! Thanks again Alan
