Why does my 2G sound as if it's falling apart?

I love my 97 GS-T Spyder. But oh my god, it lets out more rattles and creaks and groans than Whistler's mother.

I slam the door, the window rattles like crazy and you can swear that the doors are just about to fall off, its almost comical enough to be funny.

Going over bumps etc, the entire car groans and rattles so much, it gets on my nerves. The hinges where the top closes, click and creak virtually every second, while the doors are still clearly the worst offenders, vibrating and making a constant rattling noise.

I could understand if my car was a just like that, but my 1998 Spyder 4G64 did exactly the same things. So does my friend's 96 GS-T and another aquaintence's 97 RS. What the hell is wrong with these damn 2G's? I'm pretty sure that there is a clip of some sort somewhere inside the door assembly that needs to be tightened.

ya i got the window rattle on the drivers side pretty good, but only when it is in between all the way up and all the way down. and whiththe top down it squeaks like crazy. i have heard that baby oil on the seals around the top will help, but i consider it a radio noise... just turn it up and it goes away

as far as all the other squeaks and groans, i don't think it is any more than any other car, i just figure we hear a bunch more because of a lack of proper sound proofing [ie a cloth top, that is mostly in the down position. and it may also be your stock suspension, which you will probably be switching out soon enough

if your window is rattling its because one of the rails is detached from the window. Take off you door panel to fix it, usually its the side one so its right behind the speaker.

if one of the rails was detached the window wouldnt go up or down, its that stupid plasic little clip all you have to do is pinch it closed more and its all fixed.

My window sucks. Ive tightened my window many times and just recently it stopped rolling up and down. It does it for about a cm but stops. I checked and the clip is tightened and is on the rail. What really sucks is the window is all the way up and it a pain in the ass to try to reach the clip.

If the horizontal rail is intact the window will roll fine, if the vertical is not it will rumble and stuff. The horizontal is the main rail the vertical is probably not on the window casuing the rattling.

It happened to me. Check the vertical rail.
