making my downpayment

Hi, I am really tempted to make a downpayment for the lancer EvoVII. But i'm worried that the dealership might decide to jack up the price with dealer markups which will take it out of my price range.

I'm especially worried because in 2001 my mom was shopping for a car and we were looking at the 3000gt vr4 and the dealership had marked it up $7000!

Just make sure that when you put a deposit down that you get a receipt saying that they will sell you the car at MSRP or lower.

If they don't agree to that just tell them that you know of many people on this forum who've already gotten there's at MSRP and that they're willing to post their receipts.

At this point they'll probably agree to MSRP, but if they don't, just let me know....I'll put up a copy of my invoice.

What kinda down payment were you planning on putting down on a $40,000 car? Just wondering.

Mark my words...there is NO way in hell will it be anywhere near 40k. My estimate: 27k Who can afford a 40k car lets see ummm like 40 year olds. You will not see many 40 year olds driving an Evo...they will just get a BMW for 40k. Mitsubishi knows this, and so does any other idiot.

Remember, we're talking about US dollars here. Most of us understand that evo's are about 40000 in your dollars

if you pay any large amount of money ($500 or more), just get them to put on the "contract" which is probably a receipt a specific price range that they're agreeing to sell the car for. something like,

"____ Mitsubishi agrees to sell a 2003 Evo VII for $26,000. in return, EvoMyLancerVII is paying consideration of $500 to reserve the right to buy the first Evo VII we receive."

then not only if they refuse to sell can you sue to get your money back (which they'd probably just give), but you can actually sue them to sell you the car at the price stated (specific performance). the only thing is if you want a refundable deposit in case you don't wanna buy the car, you'll have to mention that too. now the only thing would be getting them to sign the damn thing. good luck.

My parents got theirs for around $73000NZ, which converts to $30000US

Doesn't seem too far off the mark for the price they say their gonna sell it at.

Soleman, I wouldnt be suprised, i've seen a 45/50yr old woman driving a WRX.
