start problem/ AC fan speed

Have a 91 ES250 Lexus... 2 problems..when starting the car does nothing but after several tries fires up as normal. Seems like a relay any guesses
2nd problem the A/c controller in the cabin only works at the high end not the low end. Is there a board that needs to be replaced?

Re: start problem/ AC fan speed

Typically when cars have only high fan it is the resistors are burnt on the lowers speed. High has no resistor.
My 92 Camry is the same way. If you can get at them they are easy to replace and not usually expensive.
My 81 Celica was very easy, I just twisted them back together. Not appropriate for a Lexus however.
WELLS
BLOWER RESISTOR JA1328 $35.99
This is autozone. Think this is what you want.
Starting problem, don't know.

Re: start problem/ AC fan speed

Usually found behind dash by temp control switches.
2 inch by 2 inch piece screwed to heating cooling system in behind with resistors inside. Resistors look like coiled bare wire. I never did fix my Camry because the dash is a pain. Maybe I'll try again and get back to you.

Probably your starter solenoid contacts.

You can buy the contacts from Toyota

Re: start problem/ AC fan speed

Thanks for making me fix this. The resistor is by your gas pedal. Has blue, green yellow and black wires.
About how I described it before 1 inch by 2 inches 2 screws.
It took me a while to track it down.
Now I will fix the lighter, lights in dash etc since I unecessarily opened it up.
It a pain to get a screwdriver on unless like me you have a racheting one.
Mine just had the solder on the outside broken.
Another free fix like my celica was.
If you need more info drop a message here.

Re: start problem/ AC fan speed

A 90 camry owner found his on the right side of the passenger compartment by the AC duct (recent post about blower and low speed). The 90 and 91 are probably more similar than 91 and 92. Hope you have luck. Let us know.
