Question Cross Drilled or Slotted Rotors?

Which would you guys prefer? I was looking to upgrade my brake system to cross drilled or slotted but i wasnt sure which ones to get. Anyone have any suggestions?

Neither, have you ever noticed that for several years now F1 has been using vented discs only. no holes and no slots. The Australian V8 touring cars are also doing the same thing.

On a street car you also dont realyl gain anything other than the look and much faster pad wear.
If your interested in makeing the car stop faster then invest in some rear discs from an Si or an Integra, and then look at swapping Accord frount discs on. Or if your feeling wealthy then find a Big brake kit.

But retianing the same disc and caliper size but adding holes or slots will do nothing extra for your braking.

Err... somethin about back in the day, the pads would give off these fumes or gases, and the drilled/slots would help vent that. Now, the pads dont do that, so, why use crossdrilled (less braking surface = less braking power!)?

I say, go w/ Powerslot, i like mine!

hmmmm

Well i have a Si which came stock with 4 wheel disc and then i upgraded to integra rotors. They work fine but i need a good stop for over 100MPH.....J/k I just dont feel like they work all that well and when im gonna be gettin alot more mods, im sure i'll need something more to help me stop.

Yeah, thats pretty much the theory behind it.
Drilling and sloting a disc also weakens it and leave its more vunrable to cracking.

The reason they still sell is simple, it because people still buy them.
Infact there is still a lot of debate over how effective they are, and I know a lot of modern race cars still use one or both, as the enginers beleive with good evidence that they work.
However F1 has always been a leader in technology, and the Aussie V8s despite thier simplicity are also right up there, so I feel more inclined to follow thier practices.

But more stopping power means more force must be applied to the wheel, which means more surface area for the pad to grip onto, i.e. larger multi piston calipers, and more leverage for the pad to work with, i.e. larger diameter discs.
Retianing the same size disc but slotting or drilling it, may reduce brake temps a little, but only if gas build up is a problem, (and theres a high chance it isnt) but they also reduce the amount of surface area the pad has to work over, and also the amount of metal exposed to the air and so able to disapate heat.

yes its true, the drilled/slotted rotors show no actual gains in stopping distance, but over several panic stops done in testing, there was less brake fade, but unless you drive 100mph stoplight to stoplight brakefade wont be a big issue, but they look cool.

Well I got some Brembo X-drilled and slotted rotors for the same price as OE replacements I decided to just get the cooler looking ones, but yeah I agree with you guys. It is like tires, the bigger the contact patch the more grip. Tires with lots of grooves and crazy designs are just for looks, unless you are concerned about hydroplaning (which I am sure no one takes safety into acount :licker: )

Cross-drilled rotors weigh slightly less than regular or slotted rotors and offer a little less un-sprung weight in a race car. Unless you've stripped your car completely and are going for absolute minimum weight stick with regular or slotted rotors.

Well, I already ordered mine... there's no turning back. I just like the "look." I am sure they will work well too, so it's cool. :licker:
