Sileighty

Can someone give me some back ground on the nissan sileighty. I did some research and correct me if I'm wrong, it's a 180sx with a silvia front? I dont quite get it. Was it produced or did ppl build them? And was it a powerful car?

Re: Sileighty

There have been several threads on this here on AF, you could even check out the 240SX section in the Nissan forums where I know you will get a very good answer.

The Sileighty is a S13 180sx with a Silvia front. It was created by people that owned and drifted the 180sx. When drifters crashed, as most do, it was a lot cheaper to put on a Silvia front then a 180 front due to the differences in the fronts. For example, the 180sx has flip-up lights, and the mechanics for that were a lot harder to replace, and they also weighed more. So it became an issue of having a lighter car, also. Sileighty's were produced for a limited time, but I don't think it was acctually by Nissan, but rather some other company that made them for Nissan?!? (Could someone correct me on that?), Hope that helped, but if you have any more questions, go to the 240sx or Silvia forums, they know more then me!

Re: Sileighty

i thought it was a 180 with a diff front....silvia.....whatever i dont know.

i heard that nissan put the front of the silvia on the 180 due to a car accident.....they liked it soo much they put it into production.

i dont know how many were made...most im sure people make custom.

Re: Sileighty

Oddpacs right, Due to drifters doing the Silvia front end conversion, Nissan took notice and decided to release an official sileighty, how many isn't known (I think no more than 500). Nissan got worried though that the public would see them as endorsing illegal road racing and stopped producing them. Must admit haven't heard that anyone other than Nissan made them (How would it be possible for such a limited run???)

Re: Sileighty

The Sileighty and its inverse the Onevia (180Sx front on silvia body) were produced by nissan in a limited run of approx 500 or so of each. then the project was canceled for unknown reasons (possibly the reason gorath23 said). the all had a 200ps (there abouts) SR20DET. hope that clears it up. and to my knowledge only fujimi make the actual odel kit. but ppl have made their on conversions.

Re: Sileighty

good stuff. these guys know there Nissans.

The onevia on the otherhand is the USDM S13 240SX coupe. if you look at the car, it has the JDM 180SX front on the S13 Silvia rear.
