92 jetta..no spark

alright, I'm new in here.
Just bought a 92 jetta 1.8.....girlfriend drove it to work ran fine.
Went to start it to leave work....NOTHING...had to have the pos towed home.
Here's what I do know......getting plenty of fuel, replaced coil with new 1....still nothing............fuses good, redid all the ground wires I could find
what do I check next.....was going to replace ecu but can't find 1 under $300(the car isn't worth that).......any suggestions?
any help would be appreciated...hate riding my motorcycle everyday
Thanks,
Russ

i hear that all the way. my sister got a 1990 jetta wolfsburg edition when i was 15 she put like 700$ into the crapper but it never ran really, she gave it to me when i was 17 for my birthday, i didn't really want to get rid of the car cause its just my piece of crap and i love it, i put over 2k into the car in aftermarket parts, reason? I HAVE NO CLUE! and it still dosen't run to this day and i just turned 19 today. lolz but im still gonna keep it im putting it in the shop tomorrow maybe..... here are pics of my crapper http://www.cardomain.com/id/gizmotoy1.... does the car crank over? like try to start? if not check your starter wires get a wire brush and or some steel wool get the terminals clean really good maybe get new battery terminals as well, it happend on my friends, we had to hop up and down to get the wires moving, and if that didn't work we even used the tire iron that came with it as a starter to jump the 2 terminals LOLZ car came with 2 starters really
